Correspondences

Greeting friends,

Thank you for your efforts. It is encouraging to see the outpouring of desire and action to support our brothers and sisters in this time of suffering. A couple of questions and a suggestion:

What plan does your organization have for the use of the money raised? Do you have any desire in pooling resources with other groups?

We are mindful of not leaving to chance the muddying of the reputations of those involved in this effort. In the past there have been ugly episodes involving abuses of the community's trust. This history has made our activities that much tougher, so transparency and accountability are bedrocks in our effort. I would encourage a partnership between our groups to direct as much positive energy towards this common cause. I am suggesting a partnership with our group, nehhr taskforce. Let's make sure that all resources reach the victims.

I'm very pleased to see that Haitians are finally doing something to help those in needs. you and the other haitians are coming together to do something positive to help our country. It's about time! I will be there and I 'm inviting people that are not Haitians to attend this Benefit Concert. I would like to know besides money. What else can people bring in terms of clothing and goods. Please reply because I would like to pass this information to my classmates and to my coworkers.

Thanx!

Dear Jean:

I am extremely happy to receive this e-mail. This is really great. I am glad to see so many organizations and ministries are reaching out to help.

We are going to concentrate on increasing our reforestation efforts as a preventive measure, as you know our denuded mountains was a huge factor as to the level of destruction. If anyone wants to help ups PLANT TREES IN HAITI, they can visit us at www.oglhaiti.com

I will pass on this e-mail to my lists, thanks so much for doing this.

Hello,

The Baptist Haiti Mission has faithfully served the Haitian people since 1943. Today, BHM supports more than 330 churches and schools throughout Haiti, serving more than 60,000 children. Many of the schools associated with the mission have been devastated by the storms. The organization and its ministry partners are working around
the clock to respond to the need at hand.

Would you be willing to list the Baptist Haiti Mission on your Relief Locations page? Our web site is www.bhm.org. "The Baptist Haiti Mission is raising relief funds to provide food and aid to the 330 schools and churches we serve throughout the country. We are promising that 100% of funds given for Hurricane Relief will go directly to the field."

Many thanks for your support and consideration,

Elizabeth Turnbull

Gentlemen:

Thanks so much for your fund raising efforts for Haiti. My organization (Flowing Streams Ministries) is raising funds specifically for an orphanage in Gonaives that had significant damage during Ike's rampage in Haiti. Like so many others, there are needs for funds to replace/repair a clinic and basic living supplies for about 200 current orphan children and the additional ones (unknown number) that became orphans as a result of the flooding. The fund raising site is:
www.giveforward.org/orphansgonaives.  Any help would be a blessing and a great help to these deserving people. God bless!

Subj: Relief Letter

The catastrophic events of the past 2 weeks have once again drawn attention to the plight of Haiti.  The unprecedented series of storms have decimated communities throughout our country.

As you are aware countless families have suffered the loss of loved ones and many more have lost their properties and livelihood.  It is evident that due to the magnitude and severity of these natural disasters, recovery actions are beyond the capabilities of the Haitian government alone.  At this juncture we should be able to formulate long term solutions to rebuild our communities, to ensure public health and safety, and develop contingency planning to be better prepared to handle similar emergency situations.

The needs are great and sometimes the response is lacking from the larger developed countries.  While, as a community and country, we lack financial resources – the Diaspora has personal resources that can certainly assist in many of the rebuilding efforts in our beloved homeland.  Challenges call us to mobilize for structured volunteer efforts where skills are identified and specific tasks are enumerated.

You will find attached a self explanatory letter suggested to be sent to President Bush, Secretary Rice, Governor Patterson, Senators Clinton/Schumer, Charles Rangel, Towns, Yvette Clarke , etc.

Please print and make copies so every member of your household can  send a letter out.

The more letters we send out the better.

If you live outside of NYS please modify the letter so that copies are sent out to your respective Senators and Congress people.

If you live in another country modify the letter so it suits your need.

Raymond Joseph and Mr.. Fefe Augustin represent the Haitian community in Washington and New York, when are we going to hold them accountable to play a major roll in mobilizing the Haitian community to get involved in a big way to help Haiti. We need to be in the front line trying to help our people. This is not the first time in recent history that we have seen pictures like this.

Outstanding, what you have said in your email" "have people take action on their own" all I have been reading and hearing are their meetings and cheap talks. We have been collecting all sorts of donations that are going to "Food for the Poor" Let me know how I can help,
Sincerely

This is extremely important. I don't usually forward emails for help, but this issue is getting out of hand and our brothers & sisters in Haiti need our help. Thousands in Haiti don't have running water, food nor shelter. The basics to live. Those of you that are reading this e-mail have all or most of these basics. I ask that you do something. Send the can of beans that has been in your cabinet for the last two months. Send the clothing that has been in the back of your closet that just does not fit, send $10.00. If everyone on my mailing list sent $10.00 it would make a difference. (my mailing list is 6243 strong. You do the math.) All that I'm asking you to do is something.. May GOD bless those that have less or nothing. Know that you alone can make the difference
